I actually had no idea that Cheerios has a program that focuses on the importance of children reading and parents reading with their children. I think this is a great idea! Reading is so very important, it’s something that is easy and cheap, basically free and something that will promote a life long love of reading in your children.

We read in our home on a daily basis. We started reading to the girls at a very young age, and because of this they both love reading and books more than any other toy that you can name. Kayla {my 10 year old} always asks for a new book in the latest series she is reading and Kelsie loves getting any new childrens book!

Cheerios Spoonfuls of Stories has been going on for the past 8 years. In the past Cheerios has given away over 40 million books for free in their boxes of cereal and given $3.2 million to their non-profit partner, First Book. “The program is part of Cheerios´ ongoing commitment to helping parents provide their children with a healthy, nutritional and educational foundation. “

Thanks to My Blog Spark we received a $25 gift card to Barnes & Noble, a box of Cheerios and the books that they are offering this year. Junkyard Fort, Tea for Ruby, Sleepyhead, Ballyhoo Bay, and What’s Under the Bed?.

These are great read aloud books and my girls enjoyed each one of them. And of course we loved the Cheerios and will be using the gift card for the girls to pick out some more books.
