Today at the girls school they were giving out the H1N1 Vaccine to all the students. Kelsie was not supposed to get it originally because they were going to be doing the nasal spray. The nasal spray is the live version of the Swine Flu and should not be taken within a certain period after being ill.
Kelsie has spent all of last week battling with Bronchitis and so her doctor urged us not to get the nasal spray. However if they were giving the shot then it would be ok, since this version isn’t live.
So when we got to the school today for Kelsie’s Halloween party I found out that they didn’t have the nasal spray that instead they had shipped the school the shots. So, I quickly scurried off to the library where they were lining classes up and vaccinating them and filled out the paper work for Kelsie. Zack was with me as well because after all Kelsie is a daddy’s girl and she needed to hold his hand while she was getting pricked.
Well they ask us if we wanted it too, so of course we don’t want this mess so we rolled up our sleeves and got the shot too. So not our whole family is safe, well almost. Kelsie is under the age of 10 and will require a second dose. They plan on doing another round of shots in a few weeks, so again Kelsie will go and sit in the little seat in the library and roll her sleeve up and get vaccinated.
Have you been vaccinated for the Swine Flu?

1 Musings From You:
We haven't had our vaccinations yet, but I keep going back and forth on it. Today I am for the vaccine. It is very hard to decide what to do since there are so many people in the media chiming in on how bad this vaccine is for you. Anyway, we still have a couple of weeks to decide because I live in Canada and the vaccine is still not available for the public yet. We will be able to get it around mid-November.
